An immersive dance horror production by the South Bohemian Theatre as part of the Jižní Svéráz Festival
The former brewery in Český Krumlov will serve as the setting for this site-specific dance adaptation of Ladislav Fuks’s novel, made famous by the iconic film adaptation directed by Juraj Herz. The notoriously chilling story of Mr. Kopfrkingl, set at the beginning of the Second World War, gains a new dimension through this production—perhaps even more horrifying than before.
Audience members are free to move through the story. They may dance in the Casino with members of the NSDAP while, behind their backs, the beautiful Lakmé prepares dinner... Outside the window, a procession of Tibetan lamas passes by, and somewhere a metal rod keeps falling to the ground. Different sounds emerge from every corner, and no one knows who is merely a spectator and who is helping to drive the story forward.
The production also includes a visual participation element for the audience. We therefore kindly ask visitors to come dressed in black and white.
