Can we hear a colour? And see a tone?
Gallery Port 1560 and the Association of Czech Graphic Artists Hollar invite you to the exhibition This Tone…, on view from April 11 to May 31, 2026. The opening will take place on April 11 at 16:00.
About the exhibition:
We all perceive colours differently. Our perception is shaped by personal experience, the culture we grow up in, and even our current mood. Colours can express emotions, influence our psyche, and we often choose them intuitively—according to what we feel or need at a given moment. Much like sounds, colours can also be perceived as bright, sharp, deep, or muted.
Inspired by the iconic song by Jiří Suchý and Jiří Šlitr, the exhibition presents both visual artworks by these important musicians and works by artists from the Association of Czech Graphic Artists Hollar. Just as Jiří Suchý played with musical tone, the exhibiting artists work with the “tone” of colour. The selected works were created with a limited colour palette and focus on shades of blue, red, and black. As a result, the individual exhibition spaces transform into distinct colour worlds.
Exhibiting artists: Jiří Suchý, Jiří Šlitr, Dalibor Smutný, Martin Velíšek, Martin Mulač, Šimon Brejcha, Jiří Samek, Kurt Gebauer, Xénia Hoffmeisterová and Mikoláš Axmann… and other members of SČUG Hollar.
Curator: Xénia Hoffmeisterová
You can buy tickets online or in the Visitor Centre of Port 1560.
